Uelzen Primary School, Durnacol, South Africa
Job Description

Uelzen Primary School, located in a picturesque setting close to Dundee and Glencoe along the R68 in Northern Kwazulu-Natal, is an English medium, co-educational and multi-cultural primary school with a strong Christian ethos.

Established in 1897 originally by German missionaries – hence its unusual name –  our school currently has 250 pupils from Grade R to Grade 7 and is a feeder school to the local high schools and to boarding schools further afield in greater KZN. We are surrounded by farmlands and our sports fields overlook a local farm dam. We are a close-knit, caring school community where we nurture family values and each child is valued and encouraged to reach his/her potential. We are a fee-paying school and we endeavour to keep education affordable whilst aiming to provide opportunities for excellent achievement.

Uelzen Primary School is looking for a self-motivated, decisive Post Level 3 principal who can lead by example and who can steer our school into the future. The ideal candidate must have leadership and inter-personal skills to guide this unique, country school and maintain its strong academic and cultural values and continue to build its great sporting reputation. A good understanding of IT in the school environment, socially and academically, would advantage potential candidates in this appointment. Sound academic management is a priority with a good understanding of balancing sport and cultural exposure to develop young children and prepare them for the challenges of high school.

Potential candidates are invited to register their interest via e-mail to the Chairman of the Board of Governors ( Once the Provincial government gazette advertising the post is released, all interested registered candidates will be notified and directed to make the necessary applications through the Department channels. (expected date of release – September 2018)
