Diocesan School for Girls, Worcester Street, Grahamstown, South Africa
Job Description

The ‘City of Saints’  … the jewel of the Eastern Cape

It’s no wonder Grahamstown, home to more than forty historical religious buildings, earned its nickname, the ‘City of Saints’.  A town shrouded in both historical intrigue and modern-day vibrancy, deservedly earning its reputation as being the jewel of the Eastern Cape.    At its core is the Diocesan School for Girls (DSG), perhaps the gem of all Christian schools on the Southern African landscape, if not the continent. It is certainly the safest environment for the personal development and education of girls.

Upholding DSG’s tradition of excellence built on academic, cultural, sporting and spiritual pillars, Academic Partners has been exclusively retained to identify and assess for the crème de la crème of academic leaders.

Deputy Head: DSG Senior School

Underpinning everything is your absolute passion for cutting edge education (as it applies to top the IEB system), tempered with a sound grasp of school discipline, sport, extra mural activities, outdoor education, broad-based cultural initiatives and active involvement in wellness programs.  After completing an appropriate 3-year degree or diploma in education, complemented by a PGCE, you went on to gain exceptional experience of no less than 10 years in secondary schooling, the majority of which was gained within an ISASA registered school/s. You have also notched-up at least 3 years in evidence-based leadership. Strength of character, diplomacy, fairness and an ability to engage with people of all levels is innately you. Similarly, proactiveness, delegation, adaptability, dealing with competing demands and making independent judgements, further characterise who you are.  Respect from stakeholders, inclusive of their participation, particularly in areas of critical importance, features high on your overall agenda.

Rika Gruss, Academic Partners’ Assessment Director, is keen to provide you every level of support in making application to this outstanding opportunity.  In the first instance, please provide her with a short letter of motivation, together with your CV to or fax the same to 0866315571.

All applications will be treated as strictly confidential. We correspond with all our candidates.
